The scale stopped moving. Here is how to find the leak and fix it.

First, make sure it is a real stall

A few days, or even a couple of weeks, of a flat scale is normal, not a stall. Water weight masks fat loss constantly, especially around stress, poor sleep, hormones and harder workouts. Before changing anything, confirm the trend with measurements, photos and how your clothes fit, not just the morning weigh-in.

Check for hidden carbs

Carb creep is the usual culprit. Sauces, dressings, nut butters, keto treats with maltitol, and tasting while you cook all add up quietly. Track everything honestly for a few days and look for carbs sneaking in above your limit. Even staying in ketosis, the wrong sweetener or a few extra servings of low-carb snacks can stall you.

Watch the calories, especially fat

Keto controls appetite well, but it is still possible to eat more than you burn, and fat is calorie-dense. Extra cheese, oil, butter and nuts add up fast. If carbs are genuinely low, total calories are the next place to look. Tighten fat portions before anything else, since they are the easiest to overshoot.

Levers that restart fat loss

When you have ruled out carbs and confirmed a real stall, try one change at a time:

  • Add resistance training to build muscle and raise your metabolism
  • Prioritize sleep, since poor sleep raises hunger hormones and water retention
  • Try a longer overnight fast or a 16:8 eating window
  • Up protein and trim fat slightly to lower calories without losing fullness
  • Be patient, since the last stretch of fat loss is always the slowest
